Gillie Easdon: Profile Writer

Distilling a life into a concise, flowing narrative is deeply satisfying for me… which is why profile and biography writing is a favorite of mine (and why I take such pride in being a profile writer and a biography writer.)

Throughout my career, I’ve written profiles and biographies for retiring teachers, scholarship winners, photographs and fintech start-ups, to name a few. My fastidious attention to detail and investigative questions are especially significant for short pieces that share professional and educational histories with dates, cities and years.

Social media demands brevity; websites provide leeway for asides and deeper explanations. Print pieces can be as long as is desired. Regardless of the medium, it’s critical to establish goals and word count first—sometimes all commissioned profiles need to adhere to a similar tone while others need to reflect individuality and flair. Corporate biographies and profiles must always be tailored for each medium. What gets left out is often as important as what’s included— and my ten years of experience as a profile writer and biography writer gives me keen insight into those judgement calls.

Whether it be corporate profiles and biographies that seek to reinforce trust or personal work that looks to highlight the humanity of an individual or brand,  I’m a resource for compelling, authentic writing. Look through my featured writing page today for samples of some of my favorite profiles and biographies.
